Learn The Art of Meditation
Meditation Course Level 1
First Session
You will learn what meditation practice is
The benefits of meditation – both physical and mental
We will learn how to control our breathing. We will touch on the nervous system and understand that by taking control of our breathing we actually take control of our emotions.
“A calm breath equals calm emotions”
We will touch on how brainwave frequencies in particular “Alpha” are affected by meditation giving rise to less stress, anxiety, better mental clarity, and learning.
As human beings we don’t have a plug in charger to re energise ourselves. This comes from good sleep if we are lucky! and engaging in meditation practice. Such practice promotes self healing of the immune system.
But we do have an internal energy system that is available to us known as the Chakra System – Wheels of Energy in the body.
These wheels of energy consist of nerve centres and organs in the body as well as our psychological emotions states.
We know these energy centres exist. Think about when you have a gut feeling about something – there’s actually a chakra centre in the stomach region. How about when you feel a connection or love for something in your chest area, that’s your heart chakra !
When we are stressed or anxious blockages occur in the chakra system. For example stress may affect our heart chakra as a result we may show signs of high blood pressure, and may affect our emotions connected with love, understanding and compassion.
You will learn how to align your chakras that run along the spinal channel. Keep them open and clear of blockages by directing your breath through the body in a controlled way.
At the end of this session you will walk away with a good understanding of how to meditate using the breath in a controlled way. Balancing the chakra energy centres through breath work. This practice you can preform anywhere at any time in any situation that will restore the body and mind to calmness, inner peace and happiness.
Session Two
You will learn the benefits of the sound A – U – M .
You will learn how to say the OM Mantra, and understand what a mantra is.
Research has shown that repetition of the this sound activates the stomach, spinal cord, throat, nasal and brain regions.
Research has also shown that repetition of the mantra improved concentration, sense of peace, less stress and anxiety.
You will learn to synchronise the sounding of the mantra with the breath.
At the end of this session you will learn the benefits of sounding the OM mantra aloud and quietly in the mind.
Session Three
At the end of Session Two
You will be asked to think about what you would like to achieve in the near future, think about a specific goal that you want to achieve.
This might be running a race in a certain time, giving a presentation, going for an interview, taking an exam for example. It could be something completely different like losing weight, giving up smoking, having an awkward conversation with someone but anxious about how it might go.
You are going to learn the positives behind visualisation in helping you achieve a specific task.
You will learn what visualisation is.
Here’s a thought for you. The brain cannot distinguish between what is real and imaginary.
When we visualise, our brain generates impulses to say ” preform that movement”
Thus neural pathways are formed creating a learned behaviour. Hence we act in a certain way to what we imagined!!
Amazing how artistic our brain is.
At the end of the session you will have learned how to visualise. The practice that you would have followed in sessions one and two would have placed you in a very relaxed and calm state to achieve a positive change. <<back< a=””>
